GoLucid Field Notes: JabberYak
GoLucid Field Notes:
JabberYak is an engagement and culture tool designed to make networking less awkward by giving attendees simple conversation starters based on shared personal interests rather than job titles.
I caught up with Shideh Doerr (CEO) to understand the problem they are solving. Shideh shared that JabberYak is built for people who do not naturally spark conversations in crowded rooms, and that the goal is to help attendees form genuine human connections that lead to trust and longer term relationships. Instead of matching people based on professional utility, JabberYak focuses on belonging and ease.
JabberYak does this through “7 Degrees of Connection,” where attendees display a small set of interests through physical wearables or digital formats. The platform can also support interactive experiences like scavenger hunts to prompt conversation, and provides organizers with interest level insights that can help shape programming and engagement.
In CECI’s evolving framework, solutions like this may relate to Engagement, Experience and Enablement Technology and Event Intelligence Technology, but ultimately, category fit is for vendors and the community to help clarify as the model matures.
I am Josiah Taulbee, and I started CECI to help the industry understand what event technology vendors actually do. Research and industry awareness only, no promotion or recommendations.
If you are building in event tech, check if you are already in the CECI registry, or message me to connect.
